Art
in the Garden
Popular activities for weekend outings are visiting open gardens
or seeing art exhibitions. On Saturday, 26th and Sunday, 27th May,
there is the opportunity to do both at Lower Peasdown, near Bath.
Well-known art group, Old Bakery Artists, local to the Midsomer
Norton area, has joined forces with the established Carlingcott
Garden Club to organise 'Art in the Garden'.
Firgrove House, Lower Peasdown, BA2 8AH, is the venue for the art
exhibition and the starting point of the open gardens trail, providing
details, maps and directions. The other gardens (a minimum of 3)
will be within an energetic walking distance of each other and will
be open from 2 - 5pm.
The art exhibition, inside and outside of Firgrove House, will be
open each day from 11am - 5pm. It will be full of a diverse range
of work from painting in all different mediums, to photography,
ceramics and sculpture. Many of the artists get their inspiration
from gardens and the natural world. Most of the works on display
will be for sale, as well as unframed prints and greetings cards.
In addition, there will be refreshments available in aid of Dorothy

Energy
and Movement - 20 October - 3 Nov
' Energy and Movement' is the theme for an exhibition by the Old Bakery
Artists from 20 October - 3 November 2012. This popular, locally based
group have had several successful shows in Rook Lane Chapel in the
last few years. The group has risen to the challenge with an eclectic
mix of 2D and 3D work in a variety of mediums. There will be a large
grid of canvases on one wall with an interpretation from each member
expressing the theme. |
 |
 |
OBA
member, Catherine Beale, who is well-known as a portrait painter,
has experimented with some different techniques using her two energetic
sons as models. She adds paint effects to free-flowing hues to describe
the boys as they propel themselves through the air. |
 |
 |
These
2 minute sketches were done from life with oil sticks by OBA member
Carl Johnson. |
 |
'Two
Swimmers'
This painting uses acrylic paint on canvas and is by OBA
member, Penny Lloyd. She enjoyed looking at the
movement in the water and how it is displaced by the
figures. |
