For
as long as I can remember I have loved drawing and my
Mother reckons that I was born with a pencil in my hand!
From
an early age I realised that I wanted to be an artist,
so after leaving school in 1978 I studied graphic design
at the Leicester School of Printing for three years. Soon
after gaining my Design and Art Technicians Education
Certificate, I began my career in commercial art as a
paste-up artist in various Design Houses in Leicester
before moving to Bath. Here I experienced the exciting
world of My Little Pony and Roland Rat!
I decided to go self-employed in 1989, taking on the title
PriceLis Art as a skit on my name. Continuing in character
work by freelancing for associated design companies before
setting up a studio from home in Holcombe. Spreading my
wings into computerised graphics, designing corporate
identities and literature for companies and individuals
which included, finished artwork through to print organisation.
Occasionally fitting in commissioned portraits in pencil,
ink, watercolour and mixed media, I began to save costs
by making frames for the artwork myself.
Recognising
a gap in the market for creative bespoke framing, together
with my husband Dave we set up our own business in art
and framing in 1998. We became Guild Commended Framers
in 2001 and after reaching the finals for 6 years running,
we won the Fine Art Trade Guild Set Piece Framing
Skills Award in 2006! Pricelis Art Limited now incorporates
Fine Art Giclée Printing and Computerised Mount
Cutting and all run from a rural business farm unit a
mile from home! We are able to take a lunchtime break
and walk our two Bearded Collies in beautiful Somerset
countryside.
I
have always loved my job and am fortunate to print my
own work and display in my own gallery!
